Book Review: "Sophie's Journey" By Sally Collins

This is the story the Delezio Family wants to share with Australia.

It could have been anybody's child. Ten days before Christmas. A room of Children, napping on mattresses in their childcare centre, waiting for Santa to arrive. It's a peaceful scene, until a car crashes through the doors at head height, smashing into the midst of the sleeping children. The engine revs faster and faster; flames lick the ceiling.

Incredibly, no child was killed at the Roundhouse Childcare Centre on 15th December 2003. But Sophie Delezio bears the legacy of that day written on her body. Sophie suffered third-degree burns to 85 per cent of her body in the fire, She lost both feet, some fingers, and her right ear.

Her survival was a miracle to many. Two years later, the unthinkable happens - Sophie is hit by a car, and once again left with near-fatal injuries. Yet again, she defies the odds and survives.

Sophie's Journey traces the path of this remarkable young girl. It is told through the words of friends and family, hospital staff, emergency workers and high-profile supporters. The voices of Sophie's parents, Ron and Carolyn, run through the story, describing the twists and turns of their journey so far.

This book tells of a child's resilience, of the choice between life and death, and of a strength that prevails through suffering. Sophie Delezio has a message of hope for us all, This is her story.

Week 17 -- The Diet

Well what can I say? Let me tell you I was surprised today when we went to weigh-in, I have lost another 1.3kgs which means I have now lost 9.5kgs and only have 500grams to go till I have reached my first goal and that is 10kgs ( thats heavy just pick up a bag of 10kgs of Potatoes), and Brett has lost another 500grams (1/2kg).

I have to tell you though, I would have thought I wouldn't have lost any neither did Brett, as last week was a really hard week for me emotionally, I was pretty down, and I mean down, but am now on the otherside looking forward and up, so last week there was no exercising and lots of naughty food, well some naughty food like Chocolate..

This week and next I will be working really hard toward me loosing that 500grams, and reaching that first major goal on my weight loss journey...This week I leave you with a photo that my cousin took of me, it was taken 2 weeks ago last Friday. I look forward to your comments.

Kosmo, Bones and the VET

On Friday morning about 7.00am, I gave Kosmo his fresh raw bone that he gets every morning, about 15mins later I went outside to get my car out of the garage and put it out the front for when I was ready to go to work at 7.35am, out came Kosmo from down the side of the house, and he looked uncomfortable, he had his paws trying to get something out of his mouth, and of course I went into panic mode, I brought him inside to have a look at what was wrong, and oh my god he had a piece of bone wedged between 2 of his top teeth, from one side to the other side in the top roof of his mouth, he wasn't in any pain, he was just getting annoyed because he couldn't get it out, I then tried to get it out myself but was unsuccessful. So off we went to the next door neighbours house to see Fred, who is our neighbour to see if he may have been able to wedge it out, but he was unsuccessful.

So I rang David the Vet, he said he would be in the clinic around 8.30pm, to bring Kosmo in then and he would try to get it out, he said if he couldn't get it out easily then he would have to sedate Kosmo, OH MY GOD, I was thinking my poor baby... So i got him in the car, mind you I had to take my little car as Brett had already gone to work at 5.00am that morning, So I was driving to the vet with one hand on the steering wheel and the other trying to help Kosmo keep his tongue free was getting stuck...

We arrived at the Vet Clinic and just as I was going to get Kosmo out of the car, and he got it out himself.. What a relief it was... So after all that we didn't need the Vets help after all, but he still came out and checked him out at no cost... Thank you David we appreciate it, so I took Kosmo home and I had a shower and then went to work...
